Halloween Event 2020

The Halloween Event 2020 was an event that started on October 26th, 2020 and ended on November 22nd, 2020.

Overview

This event was the only event in Murder Mystery 2's history that had two parts. The event contained a new lobby, a Main Event, candy exchange, daily challenges, a mystery box, a leaderboard, and a new item pack.

Part 2

Part 2 or "Scary Mode" was a gamemode that was initially delayed for eight days after being expected to be released on October 30th, 2020. Part 2 itself was a different type of gamemode, as it was similar to the popular Roblox game Piggy gameplay-wise. Unlike the original three gamemodes, players had to enter through the portal in the Halloween lobby. The portal officially opened on November 7th, 2020.

Lobby Description

The lobby was themed off a haunted carnival. There was a carousel in the center, a roller coaster on the side, a shootout game tent, and a ticket stand by the entrance. Right next to the shootout game was the Part 2 portal. Behind that was a large ferris wheel which didi1147 and Thexz (aka JD) were seen riding. The voting area was a large castle with caution taped rooms and many doors. Behind one of the doors there was a text box with the text "BOO!" and a ghost emoji.

Main Event

The main event consisted of 30 tiers that were purchasable for 600 candies each The 30th tier was the Traveller Challenge. Once the 30th tier was obtained, players would get quested with the "hardest challenge [they've] ever faced", which was collecting 80,000 candies for the Ancient knife Hallowscythe.

Once players got to the last tier of the Main Event, the Mysterious Traveller task popped up. It said, "Hello again, human... I have an offer for you again, if you are interested... It will not be easy. If you are weak, turn away NOW! I offer you my scythe... in return? the hardest challenge you have EVER faced! it shall cost you.. 80,000 CANDIES. What, you thought an ANCIENT SCYTHE would be easy?"

Daily Challenges

Daily challenges reset after 24 hours. If players completed all the challenges, they would receive a free tier for the Main Event in return. The challenges stayed consistent as surviving 4 innocent victories, murdering 6 people, and logging in. Every time a challenge was finished, players would receive a set amount of bones. There were 4 necessary bones to obtain the free tier. The skeleton "Skelly", seen to the right side of Daily challenges GUI was holding the knife Slimy from the Halloween Event in 2019.

Mystery Box

The event had a weapon box that could’ve been opened using either a Pumpkin Key or 600 Candies .

Leaderboard

Every annual event there is a special leaderboard. To get onto this year's leaderboard, players had to collect candies . The only way to obtain such candies was by collecting them during rounds. Each person on the leaderboard obtained a unique knife depending on their rank. First place got the Gold Vampire's Edge, second earned thr Silver Vampire's Edge, third earned the Bronze Vampire's Edge, and all players on the leaderboard earned the Blue Vampire's Edge.

Vampire Pack

The Vampire Item Pack was one of the only annual festive item packs that did not contain a pet. This item pack was purchasable for 1,699 Robux. This pack was only available during this Halloween Event just like all the other item packs.

Trivia

• This was the sixth Halloween event to occur in Murder Mystery 2
• Portal Gun is an Uncommon while Portal Knife is a Rare.
  • No one knows if this was intentional or not but this was the first ever "set" that is two different rarities.
  • There were also other weapons in this event that were different rarities than their partner weapons.
    • Ghosts is another set that is Uncommon and Rare.
• Toy Candy 2 changes colors and sometimes has a fire effect.
• This was the first ever event to have 2 parts.
• The pumpkin pets were based off IDontHaveAUse's UGC pumpkin hats.
  • They are predicted to be also created by IDontHaveAUse.
• Candies came in 3 different colors. (Cyan, Orange, and Magenta)
  • All colors had a fire variant that was worth 5 Candies instead of 1.
• Only 50 candies could be collected per round. (No bonus for Elite Gamepass owners)
• Players that owned dual wield would still hold two knives as the clown.
• The clown could not jump, crouch, or throw knives.
• Part 2 was going to be a live event, but it broke just before it was going to play.
• Nikilis made many posts on Discord about Part 2 and shared news about what was to come.
• The clown's speed (like in Piggy) was slightly slower than the other players' speed.
• During the live event, "Scary Mode" music played in the normal lobby as well for some reason.
• The clown always held the default knife, not the knife that the player had equipped.
