Christmas Event 2020

The Christmas Event 2020 was an event in Murder Mystery 2 that started on December 13th, 2020 as a pre-release. It was then officially released on December 23rd, 2020as a full event. The entire event ended on January 13th, 2021, with the pre-update lobby replacing the full lobby. The pre-update lobby was removed on February 14th, 2021 due to the holiday Valentines Day, and the addition of Heartblade.

Pre-Update

The Christmas Pre-Update was released on 9:02 PM EST. In this update, Nikilis released a new godly knife that was available to be purchased for 1,699 Robux. This knife was called Peppermint, which was only purchasable during the event from the Peppermint Gamepass. Along with the new weapon, Nikilis added new Christmas GUI and a winter-themed Lobby.

Pre-Update Lobby

The lobby consisted of a snowflakes effect and the lobby's saturation was changed to match with the winter theme. Nikilis described this as a "Part 0.5" lobby, meaning that this was going to be the lobby the Christmas Event 2020 began. After the Event ended, the pre-update lobby came back for a short amount of time.

Part 1 of the Christmas update released at 2:01 PM EST on the 23rd of December, 2020. Nikilis added a new godly called Cookieblade, similar to Peppermint, which players could purchase using 1,699 Robux from the Cookieblade Gamepass. It was also only purchasable during the event.

In earlier versions, the winter crate had a visual bug where it displayed 600 Snow Tokens instead of 800 Snow Tokens as shown in the Christmas module. The Christmas module also had a misspelled word "Chrismas" at the top of the module, which was shortly fixed.

Map

A new map called Log Cabin was added to the game as part of the event, as well as a previously appearing map, Workshop, being re-added.

Log Cabin resembled a cabin being built with wooden logs and consisted of 2 floors and a basement.

Main Event

The Main Event consisted of 20 tiers, each being purchasable for 800 Snow Tokens . Each tier, excluding the first one, provided a reward when purchased.

During the event, a new box called the 2020 Christmas Box was released, that could've been unboxed using 800 Snow Tokens or 1 Snow Key .

Gifting Center

The gifting center was where Gifts could be purchased for 1,000 Snow Tokens . These Gifts could only be open when gifting them to other users within the server. Inside the Gift was a random item from any Mystery Box. Giving 100 Gifts would reward the player with Jinglegun.

Santa's Challenge

In this challenge, Saint Nikilis claims that he needs to finish off a few gifts for Christmas, and that he needs your help. 10 weapons that the player did not have were be listed once. (4 commons, 3 uncommons, 2 rares, and 1 legendary). Players would need to obtain these weapons and give them to Saint Nikilis, which rewarded them with the knife Santa's Spirit.

Icebreaker

Icebreaker was the new ancient knife released during the event. It could have been obtained by purchasing all 20 tiers in the Main Event and turning in 70,000 Snow Tokens for it.

Leaderboard

There were 2 leaderboards during this event, one for Token-Collecting and one for Gift-Giving . Spending tokens or buying tokens did not affect the total amount of tokens collected. Unique Trophies were awarded to the top 100 token collectors and gifters, the token reward being Red Icebreaker and the gifting reward being Red Iceblaster. The top 3 of these 100 received their own gold, silver, or bronze variation. The collected tokens variation is an Icebreaker, and the gifts given variation is an Iceblaster.
