Bonus Rounds

Bonus Rounds were special types of rounds in the early days of Murder Mystery 2. However, Bonus Rounds have since been removed due to Casual Mode (3rd person) being introduced to Murder Mystery 2 back in 2015. Nikilis mentioned this on his reddit saying that the way the bonus rounds were programmed was really bad and extremely glitchy. They did not work on casual mode at all.

Types of Bonus Rounds[]

Massacre[]

This mode is only played in bonus rounds, and can only played in these maps: Pond, Mansion or House. Massacre is a free-for-all fight to the death as all the players are Murderers and has to kill everyone, without them dying in the process. The last one standing wins.

Juggernaut[]

Juggernaut is when there is only one murderer and the rest of the people are sheriffs. But the murderer can take more damage and does not get killed with just one shot. The sheriffs had to shoot the Murderer/Juggernaut before the murderer kills all the sheriffs. You can only play Juggernaut on these maps: Pond and Mansion.

Infection[]

There are multiple murderers (the infected) and multiple sheriffs (the survivors) and the murderers had to stab the sheriff, but the sheriff doesn't die. The sheriff will turn into a murderer and the murderers have to get all the sheriffs before time runs up. If the sheriffs manage to get away, they win. If all murderers infect the sheriffs, the murderer wins.

Wild West[]

There are 6 Red Sheriffs, and 6 Blue Sheriffs. It is a showoff between the two teams and whoever the teams survives wins. To tell the difference, the characters are all chosen in different shades of red or blue.

Hot Potato[]

The new bonus round mode that came out after the release of the MLG Box. There is one sheriff and they have to shoot the other people to pass on the gun before it explodes. The person who is still holding the gun will explode and die. The catch is that the person with the gun can shoot as many times as they want without reloading. The last one standing wins.

Trivia[]

Hot Potato is the final Bonus Round gamemode to be released to the game before Bonus Rounds were removed.
In one of JD's Q&A videos ^[1], Thexz answered a fan's question about his and Didi1147's opinion on Bonus Rounds. While talking about their opinions on the gamemode, Thexz said that Nikilis did plan to bring back Bonus Rounds, however this idea was eventually scrapped and never made its return back to the game.
Before Christmas 2015 , Nikilis decided, instead of trying to fix Bonus Rounds, he was going to remake them. He started an unrelated update, and didn't realize how long this one would take (rescripted the inventory and shop from scratch), so the bonus rounds got delayed. Since it was the Christmas event, he figured that people would like to get more gifts and it didn't have to be #1 priority. After this, Bonus Rounds were never seen.
Nikilis actually seemed to continue to work on Bonus Rounds until July 2016, as there was new icon's made for the rounds. These can be viewed below.
The Barn map has been remade by Zyleak and has been re-added in the Halloween Event 2022 as part of the Infection game mode.
